We consult the philosophies and artistic practices born out of the African Diaspora in the Americas to construct classes and shows that stimulate cultural understanding, joy, and wellness. We believe that African, Afro Latin, and African American cultures offer creative means for people of all walks of life to better know themselves, their bodies, their past, and the current world around them.
We believe that gender diversity is the original way of our ancestors. We seek ways to empower everyone who takes our classses or hires us for an event. In partnerwork classes we use the terms “lead” and “follow” instead of gendered terms and want everyone to pick the role that bests suits them (or ideally, learn both!). We are still learning how to identify and counteract the gender biases colonization has layered on top of our beautiful arts practices.
